Eatsense was established on the NSW Central Coast in 2013 by founder and Accredited Practising Dietitian Nicole Saliba and has since grown into a team of passionate dietitians. We strongly believe that healthy eating does not have to be complicated or restrictive, and that eating well should be stress and guilt-free.

At Eatsense our philosophy is simple…

DIETS DON’T WORK

At first our client’s are shocked that we do not hand out detailed meal plans and send them on their way.

Strict food rules, calorie counting, meal plans and dieting encourage us to stop trusting our bodies and take the joy out of eating. In fact, research currently shows that dieting and traditional weight loss interventions don’t work long term, and result in weight regain in 95% of people within five years. That’s right dieting is actually a risk factor for future weight gain and and can increase the risk of body dissatisfaction, low self-esteem, disordered eating and depression

HEALTHY EATING IS NOT MEANT TO BE COMPLICATED

Everybody eats, therefore everybody considers themselves to be an expert when it comes to nutrition. Therefore, there is an abundance of conflicting nutrition information being circulated. Eating the right foods for your body is not meant to be complicated. We strive to give you the correct knowledge, tailored to your needs and lifestyle, in order to help set you up for a lifetime of good health.

Being equipped with the knowledge of how to nourish our bodies best and forming a good relationship with food are the pillars of good health. We believe that healthy eating should be straightforward, and make sense!

YOUR WEIGHT DOES NOT DETERMINE YOUR HEALTH

Our dietitian’s recognise that humans come in a variety of sizes and shapes. Instead of focusing on weight loss as the sole indicator of health, we believe in helping our clients make positive changes in their physiological and psychological health. Self-acceptance of the body you have will enable you to make positive changes, such as finding more opportunities to move your body during the day, learning to stop eating when you are full or incorporating and enjoying more nutritious foods, as opposed to pursuing an ‘ideal’ weight. Our dietitians are trained in the Health at Every Size principles and are passionate about supporting people of all sizes in addressing health directly by finding compassionate ways to take care of themselves and adopt healthy behaviours.

FOOD IS MEDICINE

What and how we eat can have a profound impact on our health. Eating well (not perfectly) provides us with the the building blocks to live the healthiest life possible. Foods and nutrients have an amazing ability to support digestion, strengthen the immune system, reduce inflammation and enhance mood. In fact many risk factors for chronic lifestyle diseases such as type two diabetes and high cholesterol can be reversed by introducing specific foods. More and more research is showing us how powerful the nutrients in our food are in activating or stopping certain disease controlling genes in the body.
